MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A Nebo woman has been charged with felony possession of stolen goods following an investigation into a stolen pickup truck, according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Adam Burnette charged Kaitlin Nicole Hensley, 34, of Nebo, with felony possession of stolen goods. Hensley was initially denied bond because she was already out on pretrial release.

On August 22, Deputy Seth Leopold responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in Nebo. Upon arrival, Leopold spoke with the owner of the stolen property, a blue Nissan pickup truck. The owner reported that the vehicle had been taken from a family member’s nearby residence.

A short time later, the truck was located by the victim at a residence in Burke County.

According to investigators, Hensley, who is a family member of the victim, had driven the vehicle to the residence without permission.

Further investigation by Detective Burnette reportedly determined that Hensley was responsible for the theft.

The case remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
