We have confirmed our 11th positive rabies case this week, with skunks being the primary source. Protect your family and pets with these quick tips:
Avoid Wildlife – Especially skunks or racoons acting strangely, out during the day, or showing no fear of people
Vaccinate Pets – Dogs, cats, and ferrets must be current on rabies vaccines
Remove Attractants – Don't leave pet food outside or unsecured trash/compost
Seal Your Property – Close off access under porches, sheds, and crawl spaces
Supervise Pets Outdoors – Don't let them roam freely
Rabies vaccinations are available for $10 at CCAS located at 1601 Airport Rd in Shelby from 11 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday and 11 AM to 3 PM on Saturday.
Been bitten or exposed? Contact Cleveland County Animal Services immediately. The safety and well-being of our residents, pets, and community remain a top priority.
