A Rainbow Bridge memorial donated and delivered by Papa Scrap and his wife in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene has now found its permanent home in the Lake Lure area.
The installation was originally brought in during October 2024 as a replacement after the original Rainbow Bridge at the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge was destroyed in flooding from Hurricane Helene.
The donated memorial has now been permanently relocated to the Bill’s Creek Community Center, where it sits near the community dog park.
The nonprofit property is located at 198 Club House Rd. and continues to welcome visitors who wish to leave pet collars or other small tokens in remembrance of their animals.
The Rainbow Bridge tradition—shared widely in pet-loss communities—symbolizes a peaceful place where pets are believed to wait for their owners before a final reunion. The memorial has become a quiet space for reflection for local families grieving the loss of beloved pets.
With its new location, organizers say the donation now has a lasting and stable home in the community it was intended to serve.
