Rutherford Emergency Crews Handle 569 Calls During Holiday Weekend

Over the past 48 hours of the Fourth of July holiday weekend, emergency responders across Rutherford County handled 569 emergency and administrative calls, according to a local emergency services data report obtained by WCAB News.
Emergency medical services (EMS) and rescue personnel responded to 91 calls during the reporting period.
Law enforcement agencies accounted for 398 calls for service, including 205 calls handled by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. Municipal police departments also reported significant activity, with 67 calls handled in Forest City, 52 in Spindale, 39 in Rutherfordton, and 35 in Lake Lure.
Fire departments across the county responded to a variety of incidents, including motor vehicle accidents, a structure fire, a carbon monoxide leak, brush fires, and a vehicle fire.
The Lake Lure Fire Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents, a structure fire, and a carbon monoxide leak, receiving assistance from the Chimney Rock, Green Hill and Bills Creek fire departments.
The Bills Creek Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident, while the Spindale Fire Department handled a fire alarm call.
The Ellenboro Fire Department responded to two brush fires, a vehicle fire, and a motor vehicle accident, with assistance from the North Carolina Forest Service, Cherry Mountain, and Polkville fire departments.
Emergency responders remained active throughout the Independence Day holiday weekend as agencies across Rutherford County coordinated law enforcement, fire and emergency medical responses.
