Rutherford Regional Health System announced that Dr. Dietrich Kayser has joined its staff to provide orthopedic care to patients in Polk and Rutherford counties. Dr. Kayser brings experience from both military and civilian practice settings.

Sudandra Ratnasamy, CEO of Rutherford Regional Health System, said the addition expands local orthopedic services, including new options like robotic-assisted surgery and anterior hip replacements available for the first time at the facility.

Dr. Kayser previously served as an orthopedic surgeon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, handling a wide range of cases and developing leadership skills. A Polk County native, he earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

“I’m honored to join the Rutherford Orthopedics team and continue serving patients in this community-centered environment,” Dr. Kayser said. “My goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each individual.”

Dr. Kayser now sees patients at Rutherford Orthopedics, 139 Doctor Henry Norris Drive in Rutherfordton. He specializes in general orthopedics, robotic-assisted knee replacements, anterior hip replacements, arthroscopic surgery, and fracture care.
