SCAM ALERT - NC DMV "NOTICE"

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping our citizens informed about new scams and reminding them of those that continue to circulate.

Here is a familiar one that's making its way around again:

Scammers are posing as the NC DMV, sending fake “Final Notice” messages about unpaid traffic tickets and demanding payment.

Don’t click links. Don’t send money.

The NC DMV will not contact you this way regarding outstanding tickets.

If you receive a suspicious message, call the NC DMV at (919) 715-7000 to report it.
