The Spindale Police Department is reminding residents to help keep the new North Slope Skate Park a safe and welcoming place for everyone following recent reports of inappropriate behavior at the facility.

According to police, the skate park is a shared community space designed for users of all ages, and it’s important that everyone follow the posted rules to ensure the park remains enjoyable and safe. Reports have surfaced of individuals engaging in unsafe or disrespectful actions, which officials say could lead to removal or even a ban from the park.

Parents are encouraged to remind their children of a few key guidelines:

  • Do not stand, climb, or jump on the benches

  • Avoid standing on or tampering with lights or light fixtures

  • Refrain from any reckless behavior that could put others at risk

“This skate park is a wonderful asset to our community,” the department said in a statement. “We want everyone to enjoy it—but that requires respect, awareness, and responsibility from both kids and adults.”

The Spindale Police Department asks all park visitors to have fun, be safe, and do their part to keep the North Slope Skate Park a positive place for everyone.
