The North Carolina State Highway Patrol welcomed 55 new troopers during a ceremony on Nov. 21, marking the completion of the 166th Basic Highway Patrol School.

The graduates completed an intensive 15-week program covering firearms, vehicle operations, crash investigation, emergency response, de-escalation, physical fitness and state law. Chief Justice Paul Newby administered the oath of office. Gov. Josh Stein praised the new troopers for their service.

“It takes a special person to work in law enforcement,” Stein said. “I thank each of you for your commitment to protecting the public and will continue to advocate for the pay and respect law enforcement officers deserve.”

Colonel Freddy Johnson Jr., commander of the State Highway Patrol, applauded the class for its perseverance. “Their willingness to earn the title of trooper reflects their desire to serve the communities of this state,” he said.

The new state troopers will report to duty stations across North Carolina on Dec. 10 for field training. WCAB News organized the full list of graduates alphabetically by county:
