Arrest Made in Dysartsville Incident

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office would like to provide an update regarding the attempted breaking and entering and vandalism that occurred on March 14–15 in the Dysartsville area.


47-year-old Jason Ward Anderson Salyers, of Union Mills, was recently apprehended in Rutherford County.


He was charged by MCSO Detective Kyle Gibson with:

• Felony (2 counts) Interfering with a Gas Meter (Public Endangerment)

• Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property

• Misdemeanor Second-Degree Trespass

He was issued a secured bond of $50,000.


This was an isolated incident. Salyers was a previous tenant at the residence he targeted.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this matter, along with McDowell citizens for their cooperation and support.
