Beverly E. Hartford, age 78, of Bostic, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Terra Bella Senior Living Center in Hendersonville, NC.
Born April 10, 1947 in Watertown, South Dakota to the Helmer and Leona Anderson. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Shane Hartford and by her stepfather, Leo Avendt. She is survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Hartford, Megan Norvell and Logan Kelly; daughter-in-law, Tina Kelly; great grandchildren, Hannah, Brayden, Grayson, Silas and Hudson; brother, Merlin Anderson (Darcy); sister, Patricia Hillard; nephews, Scott, Matthew, Mitchell, Heath and Loren.
Beverly learned at a young age how to work. Living on a farm with an old house and no running water, she started milking cows at the age of four. When the family moved to town, she helped out at the family restaurant. She worked many jobs and had many capacities. Working as a nurses’ aid, bank teller, law firm clerk, telephone operator, convenience store clerk and teacher’s aide volunteer, nursing home activity director and a court assistant. Each job was way of giving back to others.
Beverly created the mitten tree in which over three thousand mittens were collected and given to the needy. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to her beloved grandchildren. Her mantra was, “Blessed is she who spoils and snuggles, hugs and hopes, prays and pampers for she shall be, “Grandma.”
No formal services will be conducted. Beverly’s urn will be buried with her son’s ashes at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
