Burke County Sheriff's Office Reports Busy June with Nearly 2,900 Calls for Service

The Burke County Sheriff's Office remained busy throughout the month of June, responding to thousands of calls while making arrests, serving civil papers, and taking illegal drugs off the streets.


According to the Sheriff's Office monthly activity report, deputies responded to 2,851 calls for service during June. The agency also made 116 arrests and completed 186 incident reports.

The Civil Division remained active, serving a total of 457 civil papers, including:

  • 114 Civil Summons

  • 78 Magistrate Summons

  • 265 other civil documents

The Sheriff's Office also processed 117 concealed carry permits, including 17 new applications and 100 renewal applications. Additionally, staff completed 75 fingerprint records for employment, concealed carry permits, licensing, and other purposes.


Jail Operations

The Burke County Detention Center housed an average of 198 inmates throughout June, with 266 inmates booked during the month.

The State Transport Team also stayed on the road, completing 42 trips to other jails, prisons, and mental health facilities while driving 8,506 miles.


Illegal Drugs Seized

Deputies also removed a variety of illegal drugs from the community during June, including:

  • 225.13 grams of methamphetamine

  • 17.92 grams of fentanyl

  • 0.6 grams of crack cocaine

  • 1.67 grams of cocaine

  • 2.17 grams of marijuana

  • 61 PCP dosage units

The combined estimated street value of the narcotics seized was $14,236.40.


Year-to-Date Activity

The monthly report also includes a six-month comparison showing steady law enforcement activity across Burke County, with calls for service consistently ranging between approximately 2,300 and 3,100 per month.


Sheriff Banks Hinceman said the report reflects the continued efforts of deputies, detention officers, and support staff to provide public safety services throughout Burke County.
