Cleveland County Volunteer Honored with Governor's Service Award

A dedicated volunteer who has spent years making a difference in the lives of animals has been recognized with one of North Carolina's highest honors for community service.

Linda Szymanski of Cleveland County Animal Services was recently presented with the North Carolina Governor's Volunteer Service Award during the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners meeting on June 16.


The Governor's Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to volunteerism and make a significant impact in their communities. Recipients are selected for going above and beyond in service to others, and those who know Linda say she is more than deserving of the recognition.


For years, Szymanski has dedicated countless hours to caring for animals in need through Cleveland County Animal Services. Her compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment have helped improve the lives of countless animals while supporting the shelter's mission.

County officials praised Szymanski for her dedication and the positive impact she continues to make throughout the community. Her efforts serve as a reminder of the important role volunteers play in helping local organizations meet the needs of both residents and animals.

"Linda makes our community better one animal at a time," county officials said in announcing the award.
