A 29-year-old man, listed as homeless in Mooresboro, is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting several Rutherford County sheriff’s deputies and attempting to take an officer’s firearm while deputies were responding to a reported kidnapping, according to eCourts records.

Jeremy Keith Fincannon was arrested Jan. 5 and charged with ten criminal charges, including felony assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, felony habitual misdemeanor assault, and multiple counts of resisting a public officer, a magistrate’s order shows.

Deputies were responding to a call involving a possible kidnapping of a woman when the encounter escalated, court documents state. Fincannon is accused of attempting to remove a deputy’s duty weapon and physically assaulting multiple officers during the investigation.

The deputies identified as victims in the charging documents are Deputies Kolten Hildebrand, Logan Hudson, Colby Langford, Andrew Price, and Caitlin Wicklund, of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

Court records allege that deputies suffered injuries, including bruising, scratches, and muscle strain, during the incident. Two of the felony charges are classified as habitual misdemeanor assault based on prior convictions for assault on a government official in Rutherford County in 2021 and 2022, according to court filings. He was recently released a month ago, according to state records, following a plea deal from District Attorney Ted Bell in September 2025.

A magistrate found probable cause for the charges and ordered Fincannon detained. The case is pending in Rutherford County District Court.

Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
