Congressman Tim Moore says more than $2.7 million in federal disaster recovery funding has been approved for Rutherford County, with the majority going to Chimney Rock State Park and the rebuilding of the historic Old Rock Café.
In his Sept. 7 weekly update, Moore said $1.52 million will restore washed-out park roads critical for visitor safety and access, while $1.21 million will rebuild the Old Rock Café, which was destroyed during Hurricane Helene.
“These repairs will help restore safe travel and support local transportation needs,” Moore said, adding that he will continue pushing for resources until “every town hit by Helene is back on its feet.”
The funding comes as Rutherford County continues its long recovery from storm damage, with leaders noting the importance of Chimney Rock tourism to the region’s economy.
