William “Bill” Mask, age 85, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at his home.

Bill was born Tuesday, May 13, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Jack Mask and Alma Ford. Bill was a graduate of Cool Springs High School class of 1961 and worked as a Tech Supervisor at the Cone Mills for 42 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Forest City. Bill loved working in his yard, fishing and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katie Moore, Joan Moore and Brenda Harris; brother, Bobby Mask; and son Junior Mask.


Those left to honor his legacy include his wife of 42 years, Peggy Kennedy Mask; daughter, Rita Rumfelt (Jimmy) of Cliffside, NC; stepsons, David Hughes and Michael Hughes of Pittsburgh, PA and Johnny Hughes of Fort Rucker, AL; brother, Jimmy Mask of Shelby, NC; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.


The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 19th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Street officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
