A proactive traffic stop by Rutherfordton road patrol officers led to a significant drug seizure and arrest, highlighting the impact of teamwork and interagency cooperation in combating illegal narcotics.

According to law enforcement officials, the initial stop resulted in an arrest on drug-related charges. Following the arrest, the Tri-City Task Force was activated and quickly assembled a team to execute a search warrant at a residence. During the search, officers seized 7.61 pounds of methamphetamine and 62 grams of fentanyl — a substantial amount that authorities say represents a major step in keeping dangerous drugs off local streets.

The Tri-City Task Force includes officers from Rutherfordton, Spindale, and Forest City police departments. Formed to pool resources and strengthen enforcement efforts, the task force aims to make a greater impact on drug-related crime across the region.

Officials expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort, noting that members of the task force responded outside of normal working hours to conduct the operation. They also praised the vigilance of road patrol officers, whose initial stop set the investigation in motion.

Authorities say the case demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated policing efforts and underscores their ongoing commitment to making Rutherfordton a safer place to live, work, and visit.
